Abstract
There should not be a problem: in the UK, around 37% of women and 18% of men are on a permanent weight-reducing diet. That corresponds quite nicely with Government figures, suggesting that one quarter of adults in the UK are obese (Butland et al, 2007). An optimist would conclude that those adults who are too big are taking action, and their health will benefit− if only.
