Abstract
Die hier behandelten Radiostationen wirken wie eine Restmenge, nachdem der öffentliche und kommerzielle Typ abgehandelt wurden. So sieht es besonders aus deutscher Perspektive aus, wo Stationen dieses Typs einen schweren Stand haben und unter ganz unterschiedlichen Bezeichnungen antreten. Hier wird der weltweit gebräuchliche Gattungsbegriff Community Radio für diese dritte Säule jenseits des dualen Systems verwandt. Eine global verwertbare Definition hat die Weltorganisation dieser Stationen, die Association Mondiale des Radiodiffuseurs Communautaires (AMARC) versucht, die 1983 in Montreal gegründet wurde und heute von nahezu 3000 Mitgliedern in 110 Staaten getragen wird. Sie treffen sich regelmäßig auf Weltkonferenzen – nicht nur in den Industriestaaten, sondern in ganz unterschiedlichen Weltwinkeln, darunter Managua, Dakar, Katmandu oder Amman.
