Abstract
The Holkham Bible Picture Book is a lavishly illustrated rendering of several important biblical episodes, including portions of the book of Genesis, the life and resurrection of Christ, and the Last Judgment. Produced in London between 1320 and 1340, the book uses pictures as its primary narrative medium, while an accompanying Anglo‐Norman text functions as a summary gloss. The Holkham Bible is notable for the depictions of late‐medieval life and labor that it integrates into its pictorial narrative, as well as for its complex attitudes toward Judaism in the wake of Edward I's expulsion of the Jews in 1290.
