Abstract
The Langham Place Circle was a feminist activist organization that formed in the late 1850s to advocate changes regarding women's access to employment and educational opportunities. Led by Barbara Leigh Smith Bodichon, Bessie Rayner Parkes, Emily Faithfull, and others, the Langham Place Circle launched several monthly feminist magazines that promoted the group's reform initiatives and raised awareness of women's claims to legal rights and social and economic equality. The Langham Place Circle helped foster a feminist press and public in mid‐Victorian England.
