<p>A Literatura Afro-Brasileira representa a desconstrução do clássico e do cânone estabelecido a partir de um conceito de arte literária calcado na estética europeia, na medida em que vem suplementar a Literatura Nacional, assim como o Quilombo de Palmares representou a busca pela construção do ideal libertário do negro escravizado.</p> <p> </p> <p>No âmbito desse contexto, é relevante o estudo da obra de Joel Rufino dos Santos, o romance histórico <em>Zumbi</em>, da Coleção Biografias, como contranarrativa da nação brasileira e fruto de um posicionamento que faz a <em>antropofagia</em> da <em>antropofagia</em> oswaldiana. Este artigo busca ressaltar a personagem Zumbi dos Palmares, que passa de vilão da nossa História, aos olhos de uma sociedade escravocrata e patriarcal a herói da Literatura, na obra de Rufino.</p>
