Abstract
Subject Tourism impact on the economy. Significance Receipts from tourism rose by 20% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2018, according to government figures released in March. The rise provides a welcome boost to the current account, which has been negatively affected by higher oil prices as the economy is heavily dependent on imported energy. Impacts Tourism income has been flat for some time, and the recent hints of a resurgence are a positive sign for the balance of payments. Morocco will aim to raise its profile through tourism and event-promotion. Rabat aims at positioning Morocco as one of the most influential countries in Africa.
