Abstract
Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is a programming language that has been built into Microsoft Office since Office 1997. It has its roots in Visual Basic (VB), so when you perform an internet search on a VBA topic do not be surprised by references to VB. In this chapter we will make a few simple changes to our Excel environment to allow us to code and run macros. Then we will see how to code some examples of simple macros (procedures), i.e. functions and subroutines. We close with a brief look at recording a subroutine.
