Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

to rethink substantial portions of my Melanesian fieldwork in light of recent developments in kinship studies and a growing literature in science and technology.I am deeply indebted to many people for their intellectual and emotional support over the years. For instilling in me a love of anthropology, and for his ongoing support and encouragement for over the years, I would like to thank Michael Lambek. He has been a true friend and mentor.I can only hope to achieve a fraction of the positive impact on my own students in the years to come that he has had upon the course my own life has taken. The influence that Roy Wagner has had on my thinking has been nothing short of profound; it will be evident throughout this work, not to mention how I will think about the discipline of anthropology in the years to come.I am grateful to him for his patient guidance

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
