Abstract
Ce dossier est consacré aux jeunes éloignés de l’école ordinaire ou régulière : jeunes mendiants parisiens à la fin du XIXe siècle, enfants roms en Italie du Risorgimento jusqu’à nos jours et mineurs de justice québécois qui bénéficient d’une méthode d’instruction avant-gardiste dans l’institution de Boscoville. Une analyse biographique croisée et un témoignage évoquent l’histoire de la prise en charge des enfants déficients par l’Éducation nationale. Ces recherches interrogent l’histoire de l’instruction là où elle ne va pas de soi, là où la dimension éducative (ou réputée telle) prime, dessinant un envers de l’école ordinaire où l’exposition aux savoirs est considérée comme prioritaire.
