Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Abstract Jane Jacobs was a renowned American Canadian author and activist, best known for her “commonsense” contributions to urbanism and urban planning. Her book The Death and Life of Great American Cities is considered one of the most significant books on urban planning policy ever written. In this book Jacobs advocated mixed‐use principles, retrofitting urban neighborhoods, and participatory planning. She also coined some important terms such as “sidewalk ballet” and “eyes on the street” to describe elements of successful, safe neighborhoods. These terms are still in use today. Jacobs also wrote several other highly influential books on urbanist, economic, and political topics throughout her long career.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
