Abstract
Résumé Dans les années quatre-vingt, à un moment où la haute couture s’endort sur ses paillettes, ses plumes et ses dorures, Christian Lacroix apparaît sur la scène de la mode parisienne, partagée entre le minimalisme, voire le misérabilisme, des réformateurs et créateurs japonais, et une industrie du luxe au parfum fané. En quelques succès désinvoltes chez Patou, où il assume la direction artistique du style et de la création, il réussit à réactiver le mécanisme trop bien huilé de la haute couture en développant un vêtement à la luxuriance baroque qui suscite l’intérêt des rédactrices de mode trop acquises aux griffes de maisons conventionnelles. Aujourd’hui ses collections haute couture rivalisent d’audace et de modernité.
