Auteur d'un dictionnaire « bivariétal » québécois-français qui a connu un grand succès auprès du public québécois, mais qui a d'autre part suscité des critiques et des débats auprès des linguistes du Québec et de France, Lionel Meney poursuit maintenant sa réflexion sur le français parlé au Québec en publiant un imposant volume qui réunit les résultats de sa dernière recherche.Publié grâce au soutien de la Fédération des sciences humaines, Le français québécois entre réalité et idéologie naît du constat « qu'en 2016 il n'existe pas encore de synthèses exhaustives, sérieuses, rendant compte de la langue des Québécois, que ce soit dans les domaines phonétique, morphologique, syntaxique ou lexical, pas plus qu'il n'existe de véritable dictionnaire global de cette variété de français » (p. 1).Pour combler cette lacune, Meney a interrogé la presse québécoise et française au moyen de la base Eureka.cc,ainsi que les textes de paroliers et écrivains québécois, avec l'objectif de décrire les traits linguistiques de cette variété de français, d'illustrer les conséquences des interférences avec l'anglais, de saisir les dynamiques qui caractérisent ce marché linguistique et de réfléchir finalement aux enjeux idéologiques qui caractérisent le débat linguistique au Québec.
