Abstract
Newcastle Magnetic Resonance Centre, a new facility to further the medical and scientific knowledge by in vivo study of human physiology. His major research concerns the direct assessment of muscle and liver triglyceride and glycogen storage after meals in normal and type 2 diabetic subjects. His other recent research activities include the postprandial control of endogenous glucose production, and demonstration of the abolition of avoidable blindness in working age people with diabetes by use of a District-wide photographic retinal screening programme.
