With Dmitry Ponomarev of the State University of New York at Binghamton and Dmitry Evtyushkin of the College of William and Mary, he has been studying side-channel cybersecurity attacks. In this issue, they explain the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities [p. 42]. Abu-Ghazaleh says to expect such threats to continue. “In general, attacks on computer architecture are here to stay.”
