Abstract
Résumé L’examen de l’œuvre d’Aloysius Bertrand montre que l’innovation formelle qui caractérise Gaspard de la nuit est le fruit d’une longue réflexion, de la part de Bertrand, sur les contraintes et les libertés que la question du genre commande. Dans ses poèmes en vers et ses nouvelles, Bertrand a recours à des procédés typographiques et de ponctuation inédits qui placent ses textes à l’écart de la production versifiée et narrative de l’époque. La reprise de ces procédés dans Gaspard de la nuit consolide ainsi la position marginale de l’œuvre bertrandienne; elle témoigne aussi d’un esprit qui correspond précisément à la volonté de renouvellement esthétique dans le mouvement romantique.
