Luc de Heusch a toujours représenté une sorte de mystère en ce qui concerne son véritable ancrage ethnographique. La biographie officielle précise qu’il arriva au Congo à l’époque dite belge (fin 1952) et passa deux ans chez les Tetela et les Hamba. De retour à Bruxelles, il publia nombre d’articles sur ces populations.
