<div>This work considers optimizing the IRS elements’ selection process to reduce the average BER. In addition to BER reduction, reducing the number of elements reduces the overhead associated with phase information feedback to the IRS panel, and allows serving other users in the network. Moreover, the phase error distribution is derived for the case of LoS communications in closed-form.</div>
