Abstract
La jeunesse pose problème quand il s’agit de l’envisager sous l’angle sociologique afin de savoir comment les jeunes s’insèrent dans la société ou, plus exactement, dans la vie sociale. En effet, la jeunesse correspond à une courte période de l’existence, sujette aux aléas de l’entrée dans la vie adulte. Comment peut-on, dans ces conditions, saisir la vie d’une personne pour qui l’intégration à la société est en voie de se faire ? Les problèmes, on le devine, sont d’ordre à la fois théorique et méthodologique. Le présent article cherche à les cerner à la lumière de deux enquêtes conduites à dix ans d’intervalle auprès d’une même cohorte de jeunes, en vue d’appréhender concrètement leur insertion sociale et professionnelle au terme de leurs études universitaires. Un retour sur cette expérience qui remonte à plusieurs années met ici au jour la pertinence que peut revêtir une étude longitudinale auprès des jeunes, dont le récit de vie paraît constituer la méthode idéale malgré les difficultés qu’elle ne manque pas de soulever d’entrée de jeu.
