View Video Presentation: https://doi.org/10.2514/6.2022-3823.vid A particle detection probe (PDP) array was installed in the ICE-MACR (Ice Crystal Environment Modular Axial Compressor Rig) during ice accretion tests. The rig setup used for commissioning did not allow live monitoring of total water content or droplet size. However, the PDP, as a passive, low-profile sensor, allowed monitoring for changes in total water content (TWC) over the course of the test point. This paper describes PDP measurements in the ICE-MACR such as velocity and cloud electrical characteristics in comparison with rig data on particle melt, size and concentration from other measurement systems. This data was taken during the 2021 ICE-MACR test campaign. The results indicate that the PDP is suitable for comparing the relative properties of the ice cloud generated by ICE-MACR in different test points.
