Abstract
Chez Jacques Poulin, les personnages se construisent en limitant les contacts à un nombre restreint de personnes. Cette attention notable que l’auteur porte à l’individu, au corps, et à son rapport à l’Autre, et pas particulièrement aux autres, trouve en partie sa source dans l’intérêt singulier qu’il manifeste à l’espace. En effet, le corps étant le « point zéro » (Foucault 2009, 18), l’origine de tous les espaces, sans lui aucun d’eux n’est identifiable en tant que tel: « Mon corps est comme la Cité du Soleil, il n’a pas de lieu, mais c’est de lui que sortent et que rayonnent tous les lieux possibles, réels ou utopiques » (ibid.). L’individu est alors acteur, créateur de son propre espace de vie, oscillant entre rêve et réalité, entre liberté et réalité, entre espaces hétérotopiques et utopiques, autrement nommés « contre-espaces », – « des lieux qui s’opposent à tous les autres, qui sont destinés en quelque sorte à les effacer, à les neutraliser ou à les purifier » (Foucault 2009, 24) – et non utopiques. In fine, le rapport à la réalité est propre à soi, mais, pour les protagonistes pouliniens, l’équilibre est essentiel.
