« Mon identité est enracinée dans ma pratique spirituelle » : quand les jeunes trans et non binaires « queerisent » la spiritualité au Québec

Abstract
Être trans et/ou non binaire (TNB) et croyant·e peut sembler incompatible aux vues des messages religieux souvent négatifs à l’égard des minorités sexuelles et de genre. Pourtant, la religion/spiritualité (R/S) semble répandue dans la population TNB (Salazar, 2017). Les études montrent que si la religion peut entrer en conflit avec les identités LGBTQ+, elle est aussi source de résilience. Cependant, peu d’études se sont penchées spécifiquement sur les expériences de jeunes personnes TNB. Cet article issu d’une étude qualitative menée au Québec auprès de 54 jeunes TNB de 15 à 25 ans s’intéresse à la place de la R/S dans leur vie selon une analyse intersectionnelle. Nous avons observé que la R/S entre parfois en conflit avec l’identité de genre au sein de la famille, des communautés religieuses et LGBTQ+ et de la société mais devient source de résilience et d’acceptation interne quand les jeunes se la réapproprient.
