Cet article porte sur la première phase de la trajectoire intellectuelle de l’économiste Jacques Parizeau (1930-2015), de son entrée en fonction comme professeur à l’École des Hautes études commerciales de Montréal (1955) à ses débuts comme expert-conseil au sein de l’appareil d’État québécois (1961-62). Nous analysons son ancrage dans la mission institutionnelle historique des HEC, lancée par des personnages tels qu’Édouard Montpetit, Esdras Minville et François-Albert Angers, ainsi que sa pensée économique, ancrée dans schèmes keynésiens et nationalistes. En suivant la trajectoire de Parizeau, nous mettons en lumière certains des mécanismes ayant contribué à la constitution d’une technocratie économique francophone au sein de l’appareil d’État québécois, au tournant des années 1960.
