Abstract
L’opération d’archéologie préventive localisée dans les jardins de l’abbaye Saint-Calixte de Cysoing (Nord) a mis en évidence un site dense et stratifié, occupé sans interruption ou presque de l’Antiquité à la période révolutionnaire. Le premier état de la villa se met en place dans le courant du i er s. av. J.-C. et perdure jusqu’au ii e s. ap. J.-C. Cette occupation, se caractérise par l’édification de constructions sur poteaux plantés illustrant le maintien et l’usage d’une architecture de tradition indigène. Suite à la destruction de l’installation par une série de coulées de boue, l’établissement est reconstruit adoptant alors une architecture de tradition méditerranéenne avec l’érection d’au moins trois constructions en pierre. Ces aménagements de plan rectangulaire et dotés de contreforts sont organisés autour d’une vaste cour. Ces vestiges semblent pouvoir être localisés au sein de la pars rustica . Le bâtiment le mieux préservé, encore doté de ses niveaux d’usage, a fait l’objet d’une observation carpologique. Les résultats de ces analyses associés à un examen détaillé des structures semblent confirmer la fonction de stockage de denrées agricoles pour ce modèle d’aménagement attesté dans de nombreuses villae de Gaule Belgique.
