Spcialiste de longue date de Max Weber, Keith Tribe est l'un des historiens de la pense conomique allemande les plus qualifis pour contextualiser l'oeuvre de l'auteur d'conomie et Socit dans les dbats de l'poque en pense sociale et conomique. On doit Tribe autant des publications cibles sur la sociologie de Weber, que des ouvrages sur l'histoire de la pense conomique allemande (2017) ; l'dition d'essais sur Weber et d'essais de Weber concernant les relations entre l'tat et le dveloppement conomique (Tribe, 1989), ainsi qu'un ouvrage gnral sur l'histoire de la pense conomique C'est donc un historien conomique dot d'une connaissance acre de l'histoire des ides politiques et conomiques allemandes qui se donne ici comme objectif de rdiger une nouvelle traduction et dition d'conomie et Socit, un ouvrage aussi fondamental que structurant de la discipline sociologie.
