Cet article suggère des pistes d’amélioration des outils de Coefficients de biotope par surface bruxellois (CBS) afin de prendre en compte lors de l’urbanisation des friches urbaines leurs principales caractéristiques influençant le développement de la biodiversité et son évolution dans l’espace et le temps. Le contexte particulier de la friche urbaine, source de convoitises voire de conflits parfois difficilement réconciliables et pouvant abriter simultanément des habitats semi-naturels différents, fournit un terrain d’expérimentation du CBS intéressant pour évaluer son applicabilité dans les projets d’urbanisation. Les travaux se basent à la fois sur une revue de littérature et sur des cas appliqués. L’article permet de dégager des facteurs potentiels de pondération complémentaires à ceux attribués dans les outils CBS bruxellois. Ils sont distingués en facteurs dits « majeurs » indispensables au développement de la biodiversité d’une friche urbaine (le sol et l’eau) et en facteurs dits « mineurs » nécessaires pour décrire l’état et la dynamique élémentaire de la biodiversité d’une friche urbaine (la superficie, l’âge, l’environnement, la gestion, la couverture du sol). Il met en évidence l’importance relative des combinaisons de facteurs capables de simplifier le calcul du CBS ainsi que la nécessité de disposer de valeurs et d’unités spatiales de référence.
