10 King County lies on the north-west side of Washington state and against the Puget Sound Coast (see below); it makes up over 2,000 square miles of land bordering Snohomish, Kitsap, Kittitas and Pierce. 11 The Puget Sound is a saltwater inlet that is connected to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, an outlet from which is connected to the Pacific Ocean 12 The Puget Sound Region consists of a group of cities, towns and counties that lie along the coast of the Puget Sound inlet.
