Abstract
Cet article présente d’emblée la modification vidéoludique au niveau historiographique et culturel pour démontrer que la pratique peut être retracée jusqu’au tout début de l’histoire du jeu vidéo. En prenant les travaux d’Olli Sotamaa et d’Alison Gazzard sur les communautés de moddeurs, ce texte présente ces regroupements de joueurs contemporains comme des influenceurs industriels importants dans l’espace interépisodique qui existe entre deux parutions d’une même série. Pour démontrer les influences mutuelles qui peuvent survenir entre la scène amateur et professionnelle, la franchise The Elder Scrolls est présentée comme un exemple typique de série de jeu, mais aussi comme l’une des plus grandes communautés de modding actuelle.
