Véran de Cavaillon est connu pour avoir été ermite et évêque à la fin du vie siècle. Il participe au concile de Mâcon II en 585. Grégoire de Tour le mentionne dans ses écrits. Il est l’objet d’un culte qui a laissé plusieurs traces dès le xe siècle. Une église et un monastère lui sont dédiés à Fontaine-de-Vaucluse tout comme l’est la cathédrale de Cavaillon.
