Plusieurs études montrent que la réussite et la persévérance scolaire des jeunes canadiens d’origine immigrante sont globalement comparables à celle de leurs pairs dont les parents sont canadiens de naissance, un phénomène plutôt exceptionnel par rapport à ce qui est observé à l’échelle internationale. Pourtant, ce portrait général occulte des disparités importantes entre les groupes ethniques, que les chercheurs associent à la discrimination systémique. Entre autres, la situation est moins favorable, voire défavorable, dans le cas des minorités ethniques dites racisées, particulièrement les communautés noires.
