Abstract
Cet article se propose de réfléchir aux deuils liés à la maladie d’Alzheimer, c’est-à-dire les disparitions progressives d’éléments qui faisaient de la personne malade ce qu’elle était, aux yeux de ses proches. En interrogeant les rapports aux deuils des proches aidants de personnes atteintes de la maladie d’Alzheimer, nous souhaitons soulever les dimensions variables du deuil auxquelles sont exposés ces proches, qui ont affaire à une « mort multidimensionnelle » et progressive, dans laquelle le langage et le rapport à l’autre jouent un rôle clé.Dans les cas singuliers touchant des personnes atteintes de la maladie d’Alzheimer, les proches aidants semblent être ainsi dans des situations de deuils multiples, ou multipliés, renouvelés. À la douleur de la mort (physique) d’un proche viennent alors se greffer − notamment par le langage et l’étrangeté de l’autre à ce qui nous rassemblait et ce par quoi nous étions liés − des deuils relationnels ou deuils d’une certaine relation passée.
