Cette contribution s’attache à l’itinéraire croisé d’un trio de publicistes catholiques face à Vatican II : Marcel Clément (1921-2005), universitaire et journaliste passé par le Québec, Jean Madiran (1920-2013), venu de l’Action française et fondateur d’Itinéraires, et l’écrivain Michel de Saint Pierre (1916-1987), issu de Témoignage chrétien et l’auteur de best sellers antiprogressistes comme Les nouveaux prêtres. Une première partie met en scène leurs parcours politiques et religieux respectifs jusqu’au concile en insistant sur leur singularité comme sur leurs relations. La seconde analyse leurs positions respectives et critiques sur à Vatican II pour en souligner les convergences mais aussi les divergences. Ainsi, Marcel Clément et L’Homme Nouveau sont sur une ligne bien différente de celle prônée par Madiran qui, relaie alors les thèses de Michel de Saint Pierre, lequel reste cependant en contact avec Marcel Clément.
