À partir de l’étude du symbole du triangle rose et de ses allers-retours entre l’Allemagne et l’Amérique du Nord, cet article examine la mémoire de la répression nazie des homosexualités portée par le mouvement homosexuel dans les années 1970 et 1980. Il commence par présenter la manière dont les militants ouest-allemands se sont réapproprié politiquement le triangle rose imposé aux hommes homosexuels dans les camps de concentration, puis il analyse le transfert de ce symbole en Amérique du Nord et sa transformation par les militant·e·s états-unien·ne·s lors de la crise du sida, avant de rendre compte de son retour en Allemagne. Il est montré d’une part que la réappropriation du triangle rose a moins été le fait d’une instrumentalisation mémorielle que le fruit d’un processus d’identification aux victimes du nazisme et d’autre part que les multiples influences réciproques entre les associations ouest-allemandes, états-uniennes et canadiennes ont abouti à la constitution d’une mémoire collective homosexuelle transatlantique et à l’intégration des militantismes locaux à un imaginaire commun fondé sur le souvenir de la répression nazie. Ce faisant, cet article plaide pour l’écriture d’une histoire transnationale ou globale des mouvements sociaux.
