Uno de los mayores movimientos en la literatura mexicana ha sido la ficcionalización de la Revolución Mexicana a través de novelas. Las Novelas de la Revolución Mexicana fueron un punto de inflexión en la narrativa estilística de los escritores mexicanos. Este movimiento demostró la sociedad real de México no sólo en un período de tiempo específico, sino que también utilizó personajes de la sociedad común —como el indio o el mestizo— rasgos que anteriormente en la literatura mexicana no se habían explotado, mencionando solo la parte privilegiada del pueblo. Por otra parte, ha existido una continuación de este tipo de novelas incluso después de la época revolucionaria y posrevolucionaria. El presente ensayo ofrece un estudio comparativo de los principios narrativos de la Novela de la Revolución y la Nueva Novela de la Revolución Mexicana, así como los elementos que los diferencian. Como punto de inicio y herramienta principal se usarán las conceptualizaciones de la Novela Histórica y la Nueva Novela Histórica.
