Rudolf Virchow was born 200 years ago, in October 1821.Virchow was an inf uential pathologist and politician.He is recognized as one of the f rst in western science to acknowledge and demonstrate the interconnections between human and animal health and as an advocate for what has become known as the "One Health approach".Virchow is most famously quoted for saying "Medicine is a social science, and politics is nothing more than medicine on a grand scale."His epic life and teachings resonate to this day, especially during the times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
