Abstract
This chapter explores the importance of policy and planning in a tourism context. The chapter considers the value and purpose of policy frameworks and the role of a range of agencies in the planning and control of tourism development. Consideration is given to public, private and voluntary sector perspectives and particular attention is paid to the organizations and structure that define, dictate and disseminate policy and planning.
