The article is devoted to the history and peculiarities of book publishing and book distribution in Canada, the changes that have taken place in the Canadian book industry in recent times, in particular under the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic. Intelligence focuses on government support for book publishing by the Government of Canada. The achievements and defeats of Canada's national book publishing program are analyzed.
 Іt is concluded that Canadian book publishing and book distribution have a specific history, national characteristics and characteristics of development. An analysis of the evolution of the industry shows that throughout its historical development, it has been greatly influenced by powerful American and British publishing corporations, which still dominate the country's book market.
