Abstract
An appropriate balance between corporate and community interests would help meet the needs and expectations of business owners and their stakeholders. This could be achieved through their involvement in Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.This study attempts to answer the question posed by BBB (Better Business Bureau)to Saskpolytechnic relating to the involvement of businesses in CSR initiatives. Hence, research is conducted to identify the determinants of CSR initiatives of businesses. This researchconducts desk research and adopts a multivariable regression model to find determinants of CSR initiatives. It uses the concepts of legitimacy theory to understand organizational legitimation and the Agency theory to identify factors influencing corporate stewards to be proactive towards community service. It further explores the environment in which businesses operate and their willingness to engage in CSR activities and disclosure of CSR information.\n\n
