Esta investigación pretendió encontrar el sentido que tiene la ética del cuidado en estudiantes y profesores de las instituciones educativas distritales Santa Bárbara y Ciudad de Montreal y la reflexión acerca del tema del cuidado en relación con la enseñanza y el aprendizaje como prácticas que fortalecen la convivencia escolar como elemento esencial en las construcciones metodológicas en el aula. Reconociendo que la ética del cuidado se ha establecido como pilar en los procesos escolares, los documentos emanados desde la normatividad, así como aquellos elaborados por especialistas en la materia, orientaron la articulación de los fundamentos conceptuales con el contexto escolar. Inscrita en un enfoque biográfico narrativo se emplearon como técnicas de recolección de la información la entrevista y las autobiografías, además la información recolectada fue registrada y organizada mediante el programa informático Atlas ti. Los resultados muestran la necesidad que expresa la comunidad educativa en torno a la responsabilidad de la escuela como una de las fuentes a las soluciones frente a las problemáticas sociales que permean los procesos escolares.
