Abstract
Cet article analyse les liens possibles entre les politiques publiques de l’emploi et les pratiques de clientélisme politique à La Réunion. Basé sur une étude empirique d’un an et sur une approche historique de longue durée, nous démontrons comment les élus utilisent les ressources des politiques publiques de l’emploi, et notamment les contrats aidés, pour alimenter et consolider leurs réseaux de clientèles, sous les regards bienveillants de l’État et de son gouvernement qui souhaitent préserver la cohésion et la paix sociales sur le territoire. Ces données empiriques inédites pour le territoire réunionnais invitent les chercheurs en science politique et en sciences sociales à prendre plus au sérieux les intrications possibles entre les ressources des politiques publiques et les réseaux clientélaires dans les États dits modernes.
