Abstract
Enquadramento: o estudo de caso centrou-se numa família alargada trigeracional cabo-verdiana. Foi solicitado o apoio da equipa de enfermagem, porque um membro adolescente abandonou a escola por gravidez não desejada nem planeada. A família não estava preparada para viver a etapa que marca o início da quarta geração no agregado familiar. Objetivo: analisar o processo de cuidar centrado numa família, com uma abordagem colaborativa, tendo por referencial o modelo de avaliação e intervenção familiar de Calgary. Metodologia: qualitativa, com recolha de informação elaborada através de entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas nas consultas e visitas domiciliarias que a equipa de enfermagem organizou para capacitar a família a lidar com a transição para a maternidade e nascimento. Resultados: a apreciação da família nas categorias estrutura, desenvolvimento e funcionamento, facilitou a elaboração de diagnósticos de enfermagem, para planear as intervenções que contribuíram para desenvolver competências para gerir as transições familiares. Conclusão: no final da gestação a família mostrou-se mais empoderada, capaz de se focar nas soluções e não nos problemas, apoiou a gestante e envolveu-se no acolhimento da criança, ajudou o membro mais dependente nas atividades de vida diária e mobilizou recursos comunitários.
