En Amérique du Nord comme en Europe, la plupart des pays ont intégré dans leur politique éducative, la possibilité d’un projet éducatif individualisé pour les élèves à besoins spécifiques pendant leur scolarisation obligatoire. Il s’agit principalement d’un plan d’intervention (PI) mis en place pour l’élève vivant des difficultés scolaires ou comportementales à l’école. L’objectif de cet article est de jeter un regard comparatif sur des plans d’intervention provenant de cinq systèmes scolaires : le Québec, l’Ontario, la France, la Belgique (Wallonie) et la Suisse (canton du Tessin). Une analyse comparative est menée sur les canevas du PI provenant de ces systèmes scolaires. Cette analyse comparée apporte un éclairage sur les terminologies, les définitions, les caractéristiques et les composantes du PI utilisées dans cinq systèmes scolaires européens et canadiens auprès des élèves en difficultés. Les résultats démontrent que la terminologie utilisée est spécifique à chaque système scolaire, mais l’importance de la planification, de l’intégration, de la collaboration, de la coordination, des interventions/aménagements pédagogiques, est mise en évidence dans ces définitions. L’analyse relève des différences sur les composantes du PI dans les cinq systèmes scolaires étudiés. Toutefois les canevas du PI gravitent autour d’un noyau commun de onze composantes.
