Abstract
Cet article, basé sur des données ethnographiques récoltées sur le terrain, étudie le lien entre l’alcool et l’argent en tant qu’outil d’analyse des relations culturelles et sociales dans les villages de Tchoukotka. Il décrit le processus d’échange d’alcool pour de l’argent en milieu rural, les représentations des liens existant entre la valeur de l’argent et celle de l’alcool, le budget de ceux qui boivent, les pratiques d’économie d’argent sur les achats d’alcool, et comment la relation à l’alcool et à l’argent affecte la division des membres des communautés locales.
