À travers cet article, nous présentons et interrogeons la posture que nous adoptons afin d’étudier le leadership exercé par les professionnel·le·s au sein des établissements scolaires de la scolarité obligatoire en Suisse romande et en Suisse allemande, dans le cadre d’une enquête soutenue par le Fonds national suisse de la recherche scientifique (FNS). Nous nous intéressons plus précisément à tou.te.s les professionnel·le·s de l’enseignement travaillant quotidiennement dans une école (direction, doyen·ne·s, enseignant·e·s) détenant ou non une autorité formelle, mais susceptibles d’orienter réellement l’activité commune. Nous employons le concept de leadership professionnel dans le but de désigner toutes les sources potentielles d’influence, qu’elles soient descendantes, ascendantes ou même latérales, entre individus ou groupes négociant explicitement ou implicitement, consciemment ou inconsciemment les visées, les moyens et les ressources du travail réalisé à l’intérieur de l’école. Nous adoptons une démarche facilitant notre entrée dans les coulisses de l’établissement.
