Abstract
Cet article se penche sur les manifestations récentes du régionalisme dans l’Ouest canadien, notamment en Alberta. Il s’agit de montrer que le thème du régionalisme est un concept imprécis mais que c’est précisément en raison de cette imprécision qu’il peut être utilisé à des fins de mobilisations politiques. Pour illustrer cette thèse, nous revenons sur le concept de régionalisme pour voir comment des intellectuels et des observateurs de la politique de l’Ouest canadien examinent et promeuvent pour certains l’idée que la région est injustement traitée. Par la suite, l’article examine comment le thème du régionalisme s’inscrit ou non dans les campagnes et les programmes des partis politiques, notamment avec de petites formations politiques qui ont cherché à capter le mécontentement régional lors du 20 septembre 2021.
