Abstract
O estudo objetivou verificar a prevalência e os fatores associados à polifarmácia em idosos em um Centro de Referência em Assistência à Saúde do Idoso ao norte de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Estudo transversal e analítico, com abordagem quantitativa. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre maio e julho de 2015. Foram analisadas variáveis demográficas e socioeconômicas, morbidades, utilização de serviços de saúde e o escore da Escala de Fragilidade de Edmonton. As razões de prevalências ajustadas foram obtidas por análise múltipla de regressão de Poisson com variância robusta. Foram avaliados 360 idosos com idade igual ou superior a 65 anos. A prevalência de polifarmácia foi 33,3%. As variáveis associadas à polifarmácia foram: hipertensão arterial sistêmica, diabetes mellitus, cardiopatia auto-referidas e presença de fragilidade. A prevalência da polifarmácia foi mais baixa do que registram outros estudos e esteve associada ao relato de comorbidades e presença de fragilidade.
