Abstract
Este estudio tiene como objetivo conocer las actitudes y los conocimientos en jóvenes sobre el VIH/SIDA, con el fin de proponer medidas adecuadas de sensibilización. Se realizó una investigación exploratoria de tipo cuantitativa, en la cual se utilizó el cuestionario Brief HIV Knowledge Questionnaire (HIV-KQ-18). Los resultados mostraron que tres variables son las principales determinantes del conocimiento del VIH/SIDA entre los participantes del estudio: edad, etnia y actividad socio-profesional. A nivel de actitudes, el estudiantado está abierto a relacionarse con las personas que viven con vih/sida (PVVIH/SIDA). Sin embargo, esta apertura es relativa porque los estudiantes indican no estar de acuerdo con ser atendidos en el sector de servicios por PVVIH/SIDA. Son necesarios más estudios sobre los factores contextuales para comprender y abordar el significado del vih/sida en la población joven, al ser uno de los grupos más vulnerables a la infección de este virus, tanto en Canadá como en otros países.
