Bangunan yang baik adalah bangunan yang dapat mewadahi semua aktivitas penggunanya. Perpustakaan sebagai salah satu bangunan sumber informasi ilmu pengetahuan yang dapat mewadahi segala kegiatan belajar. Dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan di dalamnya terkait kenyamanan fisik maupun psikologis supaya mendukung maksud dan memahami apa yang dibaca. Masalah penelitian ini yaitu bagaimana mengetahui sistem pencahayaan pada ruang baca serta bagaimana mengetahui persepsi apa yang dirasakan oleh para pembaca dan seberapa besar pengaruh bukaan terhadap kenyamanan. Tujuannya adalah untuk dapat mendesain ruang baca yang nyaman, cukup penerangan dan tidak silau bagi pengunjung agar lebih senang dalam membaca. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan cara studi lapangan, studi literature dan studi banding perpustakaan dan menilai ruang pada perpustakaan yang sudah ada. Kondisi tersebut dapat dibenahi dengan menambah bukaan dengan ukuran yang tepat dan penataan furniture yang tidak memblokade pencahayaan
