En choisissant d’intituler mon article « Guerre à la guerre », d’après une affiche de Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen réalisée en 1922, son ultime œuvre inspirée par la guerre, j’ai voulu montrer comment Steinlen, artiste profondément humaniste, touché et révolté par les quatre années de guerre, en a éprouvé toute la réalité sous tous ses aspects et les a traduits dans son œuvre graphique avec son cœur, comme l’a si bien écrit le critique d’art Camille Mauclair.
