Abstract
Cemagref's Genetic Resources team has developed a method for moisture management of seeds and pollens in view of optimizing their conservation. Since March 2007, this method has been the subject of a bilateral research and transfer project with Quebec presented during the congress Carrefour de la Recherche Forestière. The process developed by Cemagref has produced publications and papers delivered at scientific conferences. In France, the technique is now used by the two main forest seed drying plants that cover the greater part of the national production. Today, within a cooperative project with Quebec's Forest Research Branch, the objective is to transfer the know-how and application of water activity measurement to Quebec's provincial branch of forest seeds and pollens. In addition, joint research aims to evaluate the relevance of the technology applied to the dynamic follow-up of the ageing of seed products in conservation. An extension of the project to other Canadian provinces is programmed and contacts have been made with foresters in the US. / La mesure de l'activité de l'eau (AE) est couramment utilisée par l'industrie agroalimentaire. Le principe est de mesurer le potentiel chimique de l'eau des produits évalués afin de qualifier l'état hydrique optimal de conservation de ces produits. La mesure de l'AE est rapide et non destructive. Grâce à des travaux de recherche et de développement, le Cemagref (France) a transféré, avec succès, ce concept de gestion de l'état hydrique à la filière semences forestières française. \nLes recherches réalisées ont permis de définir des valeurs d'AE optimales de conservation des pollens et des semences d'essences forestières modèles tant feuillues que résineuses utilisées en France. Le Cemagref et la Direction de la recherche forestière du MRNF ont décidé de collaborer pour procéder à l'implantation opérationnelle de l'AE pour la gestion des semences et pollens forestiers au Québec. \nAu cours de la présentation nous montrerons comment cette méthode peut être intégrée dans la gestion courante des ressources génétiques forestières québécoises. Mais également comment la mesure de l'AE peut être appliquée au suivi dynamique du vieillissement des semences lors de leur conservation.
