Analisis hukum Islam tentang tingginya angka perceraian di wilayah kerja Pengadilan Agama Kabupaten Merauke menunjukkan bahwa, 1) Tingkat perceraian di wilayah kerja Pengadilan Agama Kabupaten Merauke tahun 2020 sejumlah 338 pasangan dari total 53.728 pasangan, 2) Faktor tertinggi disebabkan oleh Perselisihan, Pertengkaran dan masalah ekonomi sebesar 7.4%, mabuk sebesar 2,9%, KDRT sebesar, 0.9%, dan Poligami sebesar 0.7%, 3) Perceraian pada beberapa kasus yang terjadi cenderung tidak sejalan dengan ajaran-ajaran Rasulullah SAW. Jenis penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian Kualitatif dengan pendekatan Perundang-Undangan, Pendekatan Konseptual dan Pendekatan perbandingan. Adapun teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi.
